....Essere parte di un cambiamento positivo dell’industria tessile: è la missione di Lanificio Bigagli, che fin dalle sue origini ha cercato di compiere passi concreti e misurabili in una direzione più sostenibile. Non solo nei prodotti proposti, ma con una filosofia che incorpora la sostenibilità in ogni scelta aziendale e che si collega alla lunga tradizione della città di Prato, in Toscana, nel riciclo dell’abbigliamento.

Ogni secondo l’equivalente di un camion di scarti tessili viene bruciato o sepolto in discarica (fonte: Ellen MacArthur Foundation). Un problema che non può più essere ignorato da chi lavora in questo settore. Per questo l’assortimento di tessuti e feltri fatti con fibre rigenerate si ispira ai capisaldi di una produzione circolare: l’obiettivo è trasformare gli scarti in risorse riducendo il consumo di energia e di sostanze inquinanti. Lanificio Bigagli mira a una produzione che sia rigenerativa e a impatto positivo per il pianeta e la società. Si tratta di una sfida enorme che il team Bigagli affronta con le migliori tecnologie e un’attenzione particolare a tracciabilità e trasparenza. Ogni anno a Prato si riciclano tonnellate di abiti usati, ma è fin dall’Ottocento che in questa città si trasformano gli abiti second-hand in nuova fibra per creare altri prodotti: questa lunga esperienza è alla base delle competenze tecniche di Bigagli, un livello di know-how che non si trova in nessun altro distretto al mondo.

The mission of Lanificio Bigagli is to be part of a positive change in the textile industry. Since its origins, the company has therefore tried to take concrete and measurable steps towards a more sustainable direction. This philosophy is reflected in the products offered, but also including sustainability in every choice, inheriting the long tradition of recycling clothes of the city of Prato, in Tuscany.

Every second the equivalent of a truckload of textile waste is burned or buried in landfills (source: Ellen MacArthur Foundation). This problem can no longer be ignored by the workers in this sector. For this reason, the assortment of fabrics and felts made from regenerated fibers is inspired by the principles of circular production: the goal is to transform waste into resources by reducing the consumption of energy and pollutants. Lanificio Bigagli aims at a production that is regenerative and has a positive impact on the planet and society. This is a huge challenge that the Bigagli team faces with the best technologies and special attention to traceability and transparency. Tons of used clothes are recycled every year in Prato, but since the nineteenth century this city has been transforming second-hand clothes into new fibers to create other products. This long experience is the basis of Bigagli's technical skills, a level of know-how that cannot be found in any other district in the world.
