Gli stringenti criteri della certificazione RWS si concentrano sulla tutela del benessere degli animali e delle loro cinque libertà fondamentali (dalla sete, dalla fame, dal dolore, dalla paura...) oltre che sulla salvaguardia della biodiversità, dell’ambiente e degli allevamenti. Inoltre, vengono controllate le condizioni dei lavoratori della filiera, che devono essere retribuiti in modo congruo.
